“Caol Ila” is the Celtic name for the strait that separates the island of Islay from the island of Jura. The distillery was founded in 1846 in a secluded bay on the east coast of Islay, away from human eyes. But as far as it sounds and no matter how you pronounce it, the nice smoked whiskey produced by generations of islanders is worth a try.
