The Singleton is produced in 3 different distilleries, characterized by different flavors: Glen Ord – with hints of berries, Glendullan – fresh fruit, and Dufftown – walnut and grain notes. Dufftown is the distillery that produces The Singleton of Dufftown. It is located in Spaceside, Scotland, and was opened in 1896, having previously been a mill. From 1896 to 2015, the distillery was designed to produce whiskey only for Europe and was known as “the smooth one”. At The Singleton, the fermentation process takes 30 hours longer than the standard time, which is 40-50 hours. This provides for a more saturated and fruity taste of the final product. The barrels in the Dufftown distillery are made of American and European oak. Each type contributes to the soft and memorable taste of the whiskey.
