ARDBEG

Founded in 1815, Ardbeg proudly calls itself “The Ultimate Islay Whisky.” Although it is among the smokiest of Islay whiskies, Ardbeg is also known for its delicious sweetness—a phenomenon lovingly referred to as the “peat paradox.”

In the 1980s and 90s, Ardbeg faced an uncertain future, but in 1997, the brand was saved from extinction when it was acquired by The Glenmorangie Company. Since then, the distillery has risen like a phoenix and today, Ardbeg is a niche, cult-favorite malt with a passionate following.

Whisky connoisseurs describe Ardbeg as “so close to perfection that there’s no discernible difference.” Ardbeg is the most awarded smoky single malt whisky in the world, including honors such as two “World’s Best Single Malt” titles at the World Whiskies Awards, “Distillery of the Year” three consecutive years at the International Whisky Competition, and “World Whisky of the Year” for Ardbeg Uigeadail.
