BUSHMILLS

The Irish village of Bushmills is home to the world’s oldest licensed whiskey distillery, located in the north of the country. Official records date back to 1608, when the site was granted its license to distill. With over 400 years of experience and craftsmanship passed down through generations, Bushmills Distillery is renowned for overseeing the entire process from grain to bottle. Every stage of production takes place under one roof—from barley malting and aging to the bottling of the finished whiskey, ensuring the highest quality in each product.

Locals say, “There’s no better place for our whiskey.” The water comes from the River Bush and flows over basalt rocks, naturally softening and filtering it. Bushmills is more than just a whiskey; it’s a village where families, friends, and neighbors work side by side in the distillery. As they often say, “Without the whiskey, there wouldn’t be a village, and without the village, there wouldn’t be whiskey.”

One of the defining characteristics of Irish whiskey is its triple distillation, a key factor in its flavor. In the case of Bushmills, the smoother taste of the distillate is due to its tall stills with slender, elongated necks.
