Bessa Valley Winery was established in 2001 on the outskirts of the Rhodope Mountains, near the village of Ognyanovo, in Southern Bulgaria. The vineyard spans 250 hectares, carefully selected after extensive research and thorough soil analysis. Bessa Valley is a classic French château-style winery, with the winery located at the heart of the vineyard.
The vineyard’s planting density and a set maximum yield are key factors in controlling production, ensuring only high-quality grapes are harvested. Only French oak “barriques” are used for aging, with each barrel being used no more than three times.
The vineyards are planted with French red varieties such as Merlot, Syrah, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Sauvignon, with white varieties like Marsanne, Roussanne, and Viognier being added later.
Around 80% of the production is for export. The primary markets for the Enira wines include the UK, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Canada, the US, and Russia, with more recent expansion into China and Japan.
